I have noticed over the last 2 months or so, that when i wakeup, i sometimes have a really fast heartbeat. Its just as fast as if im working out really hard (180 bpm). I feel perfectly fine and relaxed and im not sweating or anything. After about 15 seconds it goes back to an ultra slow wakeup heartbeat. The last 2 times this has happened, i remember being in a dream (not a nightmare) right before i woke up. I am a 25 yr old male, and life is pretty stressful right now. Any ideas if this is ok or similar cases? 2 years ago (tiebreaker) report abuse sign in to vote for the best answer action bar: 0 stars - mark this as interesting! Email save add to my yahoo! Us rss answers (2) answerer 1 i was told at the emerg, when i arrived with my heart rate up around cardinal bpm that i was experiencing atrial fibrillation, and that it was not uncommon in men in their 20s and 30s, especially at stressful times. I was told that it was not any great worry if it only lasted a short time. The biggest risk from it is that blood will hang around in your atrium, not making it out to the ventricle to be pumped to the rest of your body. This blood is at risk of forming clots which can be very dangerous. I would suggest seeing a doctor,. I am Rev.
